Spelling Bee

As one of Linknow’s foremost ancient games, the Spelling Bee dates back beyond ancient Greece to a time when scribes were rivaling each other for supremacy in the king’s court and the hearts and minds of the common people.

In those days, one slight misstep of the quill could cause the ruin of entire generations of families. Plus, writing materials weren’t as easy to come by, and while you can crumple up a piece of parchment or throw it in the fire, it’s a real pain in the butt to dig a hole and bury a clay tablet without anyone noticing.

Luckily, some of these relics have survived to the present day, and that is how we know that people used spelling prowess to show off in times as early as during the first official Olympic torch-lighting ceremony.

It’s no exaggeration to say that without the spelling bee, it would be difficult to imagine what the present would be like today. We like to think it would be akin to a world without autocorrect editors and Grammarly—and that ain’t pretty.

Even Spelling Has Official Rules

Spelling, like fight club, has only 1 absolute rule:

  1. If you fc*k up the word, YOU ARE OUT

Extremely Strong Suggestions

  • Turns will be taken 1 at a time.
  • A third-party giant wheel spin will determine order of contestants.
  • Hands up and in view of camera when spelling your word. If you cheat, you agree to be shamed by a different person every day.

Spelling Event Requirements

Fam, there are no event requirements for the spelling bee. It’s open to people of all ages and heights from every city in Canada. The catch is that you don’t want to make yourself look like a moron in front of everyone by getting hung up trying to figure out how to spell refrigerator. Polish off your spelling skills and get ready to hold your own against some of the company’s most brilliant minds.

How We Determine Who Has the Most Efficient Word-Spelling Recall Skills

We determine the winner by tallying up the results and crowning the person with the most correctly spelled words as an official orthographer.

Remember, prizes are temporary, but your spelling status at LinkNow is forever. Practice well, and good luck!
